1.4.3 Personal and public objects

In the upper right hand corner of the user interface you find a row of icons that give direct access to the public space and to a number of personal objects. These icons are available in each of your folders or workspaces.

home  Your personal workspace or home folder is the folder that may only be accessed by yourself and contains all your folders and all workspaces where you are a member.

public  The public space represents that part of BSCW which is accessible by everyone without any access control (see 3.3.3 and 4.7.6). Click this icon to anonymously access the public part of your BSCW server without terminating your current session under your own user name.

clipboard  The clipboard serves as an intermediate store when cutting and copying (see 3.5.1).

trash  The trash helps to prevent unauthorized or unintentional deletion of objects. In BSCW, an object can be irrevocably destroyed only from its owner’s trash (see 3.5.2).

address book  The address book is used mainly to invite new members to your workspaces and to assign specific roles when necessary (see 4.5.2).

calendar  The calendar helps you manage your appointments (see 5).

bookmarks  The bookmarks contain your collected bookmarks and offer quick access to the objects referred to by the bookmarks (see 4.12).

task list  The task list contains tasks you are to carry out (includes proper tasks, flow folders and project processes; see 8).

briefcase  The briefcase is used to synchronize BSCW documents with their counterparts on a local computer (see 9.6).
