BSCW provides several types of objects that you may create, manage and share in a Workspace.

The icon to the left of the object name indicates the class of the object. For a document the icon identifies its MIME type (see 3.3.1).

Some objects like folder or discussions may be turned into a shared workspace (see 4.4 and 4.5). In their entry list view the objects they contain are represented by entries in a standardized layout.

• Click the name of the object in its entry to display its content in a separate page or - if the object is a Document that your Web browser cannot display - to download the file. After that you can open it on your local system by using an appropriate application.
