Product Data and Knowledge Management
The objectives of the SG 4: Product data and knowledge management are:
- to extend concepts of product data management to product knowledge management — just as product development requires the management of product data, learning requires the management of knowledge,
- investigation of concepts and approaches and methods for creation, capture, maintenance, management, and use of knowledge about products and manufacturing processes in the extended enterprise.
The interests of the PM&RG in SG 4 include:
- product and process models,
- knowledge intensiveness,
- reuse of product data and knowledge,
- life-cycle issues.
Special Working Group of IFIP TC5
IiMB SG4 is becomming a special working group of IFIP TC 5 with the title
Product Data and Knowledge Management.
