IiMB-Integration in Manufacturing and BeyondSubgroup 3: DCDesign CoordinationThe objective of the SG 3: Design co-ordination is to develop a methodology for optimising the design process, considered as a business process. Design co-ordination is defined as a high-level concept of planning, scheduling, representation, decision making and control of product development with respect to time, tasks, resources and design aspects. Whereas concurrent engineering concentrates on reducing the design cycle time, design co-ordination argues that, to optimise design, concurrence should be balanced with other design objectives such as re-use, quality and predictability.
