4.18.2.2 Managing Dates

While the bar chart for project members solely visualizes agreed deadlines resp. deadline shifts, it provides the project owners with additional management functionalities.

Dependencies

The project manager may define sequential dependencies between individual processes. To display the dependency definition form the project manager has to select  Chart    Dependencies

A sequential dependency to another process is defined by choosing the corresponding process entry within the selection list and pressing the [Add] button. To delete a dependency press the corresponding waste symbol. After addition or deletion of a dependency the form is recalculated and only non-cyclic dependencies are redisplayed.

Accepting Deadline Shifts

The project manager has to decide on suggested deadline shifts of process owners (see 4.18.3.2 ). For this purpose select  Chart    Accept Dates

The 'Accept' form illustrates the dates of the complete project and the individual processes within a table. The table opposes agreed deadlines and suggested deadline shifts of the process owners. Deadline shifts of sequential dependand processes are indicated in italics, while the orginating process is marked with an asterisk ('*').

When deciding on suggested deadline shifts of process owners, the project manager has the following opportunities: change, accept or reject the suggested shifts by successively clicking the actions

  • [Change] or
  • [Accept] or
  • [Reject].
(see 4.18.3.2)

Versions

Every "Accept" action issued by the project manager stores the previous state of the complete project and its processes in a history archive. To view old versions of the project select  Chart    Versions

This reports a table of all archived project versions. Clicking the corresponding bar chart icon displays the bar chart visualization of the selected version.
