Simply stating, planning is a task of determining a set of activities and the order of their execution so that given goals will be reached.
Much of the research on planning is fairly theoretical and the algorithms as of yet are impractical. However, planning techniques have potential applications in many important fields: project management, robot behavior, business strategy, software agents, and so on.
