Sending email to a BSCW folder is an alternative to the conventional BSCW upload via BSCW's HTML/HTTP interface (by invoking "Add Document" or "Add Note" in a Web browser). By sending email to a BSCW folder, plain text emails including attachments may be stored in that BSCW folder and eventually entire email discussions may be stored as BSCW discussion forums. An email is stored as an RFC 822 formatted document which may subsequently be extracted into its components: a text message plus the set of attached documents.

Note: The email upload feature has to be explicitly enabled and configured by the BSCW Server Administrator. The standard BSCW installation routines do not enable email upload.
